Even though the number of covered employees in the latest summary was up 8% from the total noted in the FY 07/08 initial report, the number of reported claims edged down 1.9% to 126,029. Yet, despite fewer claims, public self-insureds’ paid losses at first report rose to $311 million, which was up $11.6 million (3.9%) from the comparable figure for FY07/08, and up $51 million (19.6%) from the post-reform low of $260 million in FY 05/06.
